STUDIO POLICIES

Classes/Attendance

All students are expected to attend each class for which he or she has registered for. If your child is not able to attend class on a given day, please notify the studio at 781-545-3100 or duvaldancestudio@comcast.net. There will be NO refunds for any classes missed. Missed classes can be made-up by attending another scheduled class. Please call the studio to arrange for your make-up.

Levels/Placement

Classes are determined by age/grade level. Competitive classes are determined by skill/grade level. Students will be promoted to a higher level at the teacher’s discretion. Visit our schedule page for class details.

Registration Fee

There is a non-refundable, non-transferable $25 registration fee per student per year. A $20 registration fee is required per unlimited student.

Rates/Multi-Class Discount

Tuition is based on a full academic year (September—June), and is then divided into 9 equal monthly payments (September—May). DDMA offers three convenient payment plans to all families. We offer a discount when you take multiple classes and/or register a sibling at our studio. DDMA accepts cash, checks, Visa, MasterCard and Discover. Tuition will remain the same for each month, regardless of how many weeks there are in a month. This includes holidays and vacations. No refunds, reductions or transfers for any reason. There is no extra charge for months containing five weeks.

Tuition is due the 1st of each month September—May. Click here for more details on our payment options.

Withdrawals and Refunds

For each student to gain experience and expertise in the art of dance, we strongly encourage each dancer to complete the full dance year and not to withdraw for any reason. Notice of withdrawal is required to discontinue any classes. Withdrawal must be done in person and will not be accepted over the phone or via e-mail. Withdrawal must be done at the studio and not with the teacher. Withdrawal must occur by the 25th of the month to discontinue tuition charges for upcoming months. No withdrawals will be accepted after April 1st due to the recital. To withdraw from classes, a parent or adult student must inform studio office staff in person, and complete and sign a withdrawal form provided by the studio. Please keep in mind that once paid, all past tuition fees, recital fees and registration fees are NON-REFUNDABLE.

Recital and Costumes

Our annual recitals are held in late June. It is mandatory for each student to attend the dress rehearsal and the recital. The recital fee includes your child's recital costume(s), performance tights, all hair and costume accessories, recital finale t-shirt and professional recital DVD. The recital fee is $116. Each additional costume, including tights, accessories and props is $85. Recital fees will be made payable in two installments — one payment on October 15th and another on November 15th. Recital fees are non-refundable. Parents/Guardians will be given detailed information at the time of registration.

Due to strict deadlines we order our costumes in early December; therefore, no costumes will be ordered unless they are paid in full. All outstanding balances must be paid in full before students can take home their costumes.

Tickets are not included in the recital fee and are required to be purchased by all except for performing students. This helps defray production costs. There are no limits on the number of tickets you can purchase; however, the studio will enforce a limit on sales when an unreasonable number of tickets are requested.

Inclement Weather

In the event that Scituate Public Schools are closed due to inclement weather, classes will be canceled. Please call the studio at 781-545-3100 to check if you are unsure. One snow day is allowed in the schedule. If classes are going to be canceled for that morning/evening, we will send out a mass email.

Dress Code

All students need to wear proper dance attire to class. All students should have their hair up neatly way from their face. No jewelry (bracelets, dangling earrings, necklaces, etc.) are to be worn. All dance shoes, with the exception of pointe shoes are to be purchased through the studio. This is to ensure ALL students have the same style and color shoes in class and on stage.

Duval Dance and Music Academy's dress code is designed for uniformity and efficiency. Instructors need to be able to see and adjust the lines of the body.
